Deportation Defense Watch Party - Part 2

Learning is better when we do it together! Join us for an in-person watch party of the second session in Mijente's Deportation Defense series. We expect Mijente to present on specific deportation defense strategies and tactics. It is not necessary to have seen the first session, which focused on the recent history of deportation defense and general fundamentals.

We know that our immigrant neighbors and their families make our neighborhoods stronger and better. We also know that immigrants are under attack, from the Trump administration's threats of mass deportations, to city council conservatives trying to weaken Chicago's sanctuary city status. Above all, we know that we keep us safe. So it's time to skill up and learn what community deportation defense looks like.

We will gather at 3248 W Montrose Ave on December 13 at 6pm for a presentation of part 2 of Mijente's 3-part series Deportation Defense Training: Expanding our Skills and Support Systems. The training will be about 2 hours long, from 6:30 to 8:30. It will be presented live via Zoom. You are also welcome to stay for a brief conversation after the training.

Can't join us for the in-person watch party but still want to check it out? No worries! Please click here for the direct Zoom link for the event hosted by Mijente.

For those not familiar with Mijente, in the words of one of its co-founders, "Mijente was created to bring attention to and address the lack of political organization in the Latinx and Chicanx community – independent of the establishment of the Democratic party and corporate interests – to fight for economic, racial, gender, and climate justice. It is not enough to simply wait for demographics to change our destiny, our fate is in our own hands."

Mijente has been a leader in many important struggles and 33WF is excited to learn from them. Check them out at https://mijente.net/ and @conmijente on Instagram.
