A organized community is an strong community

Last week, President Trump announced plans for mass ICE raids aimed at cities including Chicago.

On a day's notice, more than 100 volunteers moved into action to help keep our community safe. 33rd Ward Working Families members and allies knocked on thousands of doors across Albany Park to talk to neighbors about their legal rights and distribute information on actions to take in the case of a raid.

Thank you to Ald. Rossana Rodriguez, Ald. Carlos Rosa, State Rep. Will Guzzardi, our friends in United Neighbors of the 35th Ward and the Albany Park Defense Network, and all those who have joined together to be a part of this effort.

We know that a strong community is an organized community, and it's what we need right now to deal with threats on our families and neighbors.

With just a short delay before President Trump tries again, we are are going to have to work hard to build a strong immigrant defense network here. Keep an eye out for forthcoming action updates, follow us on Facebook and Twitter, and if you haven't already, join 33rd Ward Working Families as a sustaining member.

Together, we can create a safe and welcoming ward for all.
